July 11, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 50 Battle Scars

Hi everyone!

This week was packed with meetings!!

On Tuesday we went to all of the interviews in our zone. It was really really good. After, we had exchanges and I was in Farmersville with Sister Hatch! We had dinner with a family I haven't gotten to know very well and it was so good! We definitely could feel the spirit, which brought a few tears. THEN I went on exchanges with Sister Bruce in Allen. It was sooo fun biking again and we got to explore her area some more since she's new to it! SO FUN. Also at MLC all the sisters did a musical number and we split up singing English and Spanish and it was really cool(:

KAYLEE
The Eli's signed up to feed us and asked us to change it to lunch time instead. It was a long process of deciding where to go and moral of the story they brought us to their house and while they cooked the food we inspire knocked their neighborhood. The first house we knocked on was this sweet lady named Kaylee! She was holding her baby and we asked her if she believes families are forever and she hesitated and said "well yeah... but like after this life?" We continued to talk about eternal families and she mentioned wanting to raise her family in a really good Church and asked for our number! She's so cool and we're so excited to continue meeting with her!

TENDER MOMENT
We were at a gas station and we met this sweet homeless lady. Her name is Mary and after we helped carry her bags she gave us both a mint and some Graham crackers. It was very sweet of her and it showed me a lot of Chrsitlike charity and love.

ENGLISH CONNECT
The last couple of weeks nobody came to class and yesterday we waited about 20mins... and FINALLY Lorena came to class! She's awesome and even shared her testimony with us! It was funny because I'm the only one who speaks Spanish so I translated what everyone was saying haha. It was so fun though!!

BATTLE SCARS
We helped clean out a freezer and broke all of the ice. I may have punched it a couple times on accident haha. We also were getting ready for MLC and I told my comp how whenever you're getting ready to see a bunch of people is always the day something goes wrong (makeup, hair, etc.) THEN I burned myself with my curling iron hahaha I'll add a picture.

Okay that was our week. Sorry I'm the worst at spiritual thoughts but my simple testimony is that we all have our own experiences and God has put us through them to grow and to learn. In the Book of Mormon the word Knowledge of our Redeemer had a footnote "restoration" and it got me thinking about how we have a personal Savior and we have a personal restoration. Tengo una pregunta! What is your personal restoration?

Love y'all lots! I can't wait to share these stories a little more in depth one day(: I hope you have a great week and remember to expect miracles!

Love,
Hermana Cutler🌻

July 4, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 49 Happy 4th!!

This week was wonderful. We got to welcome in the missionaries which was so fun and 3 of the sisters stayed with us! Hermana Herrera joined me in a lesson with our friend Cecilia. We talked about God's plan. Sadly we're passing her off to the Elders today since she should be going to church in spanish.
TRANSFER
I got to see so many of my friends and it was incredible. I was anxiously waiting for some of them to get out of the training meeting and it was the best ever!!! I got a little teary eyed when I gave Sister Hornberger a hug.
MI COMPAÑERA
Sister Ulu'ave is absolutely amazing and I am so honored to have her as a companion. It's been so funny to find out how many random things we have in common! We're both going to hit our 1 yr mark together too(: she's from Oahu, Hawaii and has the prettiest name ever. We have so many plans for this area too and I honestly cannot wait for this unity in our companionship.
MIRACLE
We stopped by some inactive members in this neighborhood and the wife wasn't too thrilled to see us. She said they didn't want any messages but when we offered free service she opened up a bit. That night she texted us saying sorry that she was being rude (even though she wasn't) and said when they get back from their trip she wants to have us over for dinner!!!!! Literally so cool🤩
LESSON
We were walking downtown on our way to see Terry. We randomly decided to sit in Hibbitts for about 10mins... we weren't really sure why but then we walked to Terry's house and they got home at the exact same time!! We finally got to have a lesson with him and Anndice together and now she's officially being taught🎉
THE WHITMERS
We ate with the Whitmer's on Sunday and they made nenimo bars (canadian) which I haven't had in a long time. It was very nostalgic. It was hilarious because Sister Ulu'ave goes "wait you were born in Canada?? So you're actually Canadian? I've been with you for 5 days how did I not know??" Brother whitmer goes "and one of those days was Canada day!!" It was so funny😅
POSITIVE THOUGHT
Yesterday I was pondering how everyone says "God has been preparing you your whole life for this exact moment. For your mission." I then had this thought, what is he preparing me for right now?? What lesson am I learning that will affect me the rest of my life? Same goes to you.
Con todo mi corazón,
Hermana Cutler(:

June 27, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 48 TEARS OF JOY
Howdy!

I'm going to make this email straight to the point because I'm very happy.

TRANSFER NEWS
I'm going to be a grandma😭 meaning that Sister Hornberger is opening an area and training!! Sister Bruce Is also "whitewash" training and she's coming to my zone YAY. Many of my friends are training and I'm SO excited for them!! I also can't wait to see them tomorrow. Oh and I'm staying in Farmersville with the one and only... SISTER ULU'AVE‼️ tears of joy ladies and gents. TEARS OF JOY. We are the only two sisters that go home together and I had an impression a while back that we were going to be companions. She's from Hawaii! Hna Murphy is staying in the zone (meaning we'll go on exchanges together) and she is serving in my old area! (Plano spanish). Our zone leader also was called to be the new Assitant to the President.
TODAY
There are 9 new sisters coming into the mission today and we get to go welcome them!! Because there's not enough room, 3 of them get to stay with us tonight and I'm very excited about it(:

CELEBRATION PARK// SERVICE
We volunteered at an event in Allen this weekend! We handed out garbage and recycling bags during a festival for the 4th of July at Celebration Park. It was so fun! We also painted nails again this week at Princeton Medical and this one sweet lady kept falling asleep while I was painting her nails haha.

SUNDAY
We had a mtg in the morning with the stake council and we were able to stay for a Report of a missionary who just got home! That night we were able to attend a setting apart of another missionary in our ward! He's going to nevada!

NUEVOS AMIGOS
I met some amazing people this week and I felt like Heavenly Father truly led us to their home that night either for them to feel the spirit or for us to recieve answers to our prayer. Heavenly Father is all knowing.

CECILIA & ALEX
We had a wonderful lesson with Cecilia this week. This one was in spanish again and we talked about the restoration of the gospel and the little girl even gave Hna Murphy a necklace she made. It was sweet. Alex was a referral from some members in our ward and he is so cool! We gave him a libro and he wants us to come over to visit his family!

Sorry for the long email! Love y'all!

-Hermana Cutler

P.s. Happy almost Canada day to my friends & family members💕

June 20, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 47 La Guitarra
Hi friends!

I honestly can't remember this week except I got really sick but let's get into it...

EXCHANGES pt.1
I went to Plano with Sister Hatch and it was super fun! I got to play a guitar that a member of her ward gave her and it made me sooo happy(: We also had an amazing lesson with a part member family who is inactive. President's comment came into my mind to always kneel at the end of a discussion so we did and it was sooo powerful. Definitely a memorable moment in my mission.

EXCHANGES pt. 2
I went to Plano again with Hermana Hansen! There was a funeral in our ward this weekend that my companion wanted to go to since she's been in the ward for a while. We had some really good lessons and it was sooo fun teaching all in spanish again. We were able to ask a lot of inspired questions which invited the spirit!

PATRIARCHAL BLESSING
We went with Valia to get her patriarchal blessing and it was SO special. All she could talk about was the feeling she had the entire time. It's too sacred and personal to talk about but I'm just grateful to have been part of that experience!

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
I was talking to a sister about the importance of christlike love. We compared it to how our church used to go by "mormons" because Satan was finding a way to take out the focus of Jesus Christ from the name of the church. It's the same with the word "love" because people always say "I love this!" And that's not a bad thing but do you actually mean it? Just a cool thought because Satan is taking away the most important attribute of Jesus Christ.

I LOVE y'all so much💕

June 13, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 46 Chinese Dragon Festival
Howdy,

We had a good week! Here's what I've learned: if you talk about it enough, your companion will do karaoke with you! Also being in the south will give you the fear of grass... (my comp has chiggers).

TERRY
We had an awesome lesson with Terry! It's now 100° here with the humidity and we stood outside for about 45mins with him. It was good though and our members connected well with him. Sadly his wife was tired so hopefully we'll see her next time! We talked about having a foundation on Christ.

EXCHANGES
I went to Plano with Hermana Seamons! We first had our mission leadership meeting which was so good and spiritual. I had a ward activity which was sooo nice because I got to see some of my old members. This little kid ran up and gave me a hug which definitely made my day. We had an English Connect student show up to the activity and we showed him the chapel and talked about the sacrament. We had 4 members join us too!! Miracles!! The next morning we were invited to the Chinese group's festival! They taught us how to make Zongzi and it was kinda difficult since they were speaking Chinese the whole time but I learned some new words!😄

VALIA
Our recent convert Valia came to church and she had her interview to get her patriarchal blessing and temple recommend! It was such a sweet experience and we're going to help her set up the appointment to get her blessing this week!

PENSAMIENTO ESPIRITUAL
My little brother got his patriarchal blessing last week and we were able to talk about it today and share our experiences. It was so cool! That was the first time I read mine out loud and it gave me an entirely different perspective on my blessing. It was so cool and what my brother had to say was EXACTLY what I needed to hear even though he had no idea I needed it. There were a few other interactions I had with missionaries this week that lifted me up and gave me this pure joy and hope that everything will be okay and God is cheering me on. I know He's supporting you too. Loving you for who you are and helping you grow.

Y'all are the best! Have a happy week!!

Love,
Hermana Cutler(:

June 6, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 45 Farmersonly.gov
Happy Monday!

We had lots of miracles this week. Hopefully I can fit them all in the email!

REALITY
It's been kind of a difficult adjustment for sure. We've only had 1 district council in the past three weeks (which were interviews) so we've talked to our District Leader once haha. We came to the conclusion that we only ever get to talk to the zone leaders (for mtgs) and of course the sisters when they're available!! On our prep days we just stay at the apartment sooo if you have any fun ideas please let me know. It's definitely given us time to get to know each other better and we have seen SO many miracles in our area!!

MIRACLES
Remember Mario??? He came to church!!! His wife Graciela is a member so she decided to come back to church and they brought there great grandson! They had to leave right after but they seemed to like the service! Another miracle was when we stopped by a less actives house and they weren't home but we felt inspired to knock on their neighbor's door. This lady was house/pet sitting for the night and she had her own copy of the Book of Mormon! She was so nice and we left her with a card. Another one was Solo!! Some of our members just moved to Tyler so we stopped by to see if the new family needed help moving in. We ended up talking to Solo for a while about miracles and we even gave him a Book of Mormon and he's reading and praying about it right now(:

SERVICE
Facebook miracles... Hna Murphy put up an ad for us to do some service and Breana (the cutest lady ever) asked us to come help her organize her cabinets. She sells candles for a living so we helped her organize them and she even gave me a lavender one!!

EXCHANGES
I went to Plano!!! It was super weird being in my old apartment... but awesome!! I was with Hna Russell who is absolutely wonderful!! We ate with la familia Beare and Eleana and her son showed up for a few mins so I got to see them too!! We had some really good phone lessons and talked about the Plan of Salvation. Super good! I also saw Francisco and he randomly gave me a care bear so that was really funny but super nice! It was so cool to see how his English has improved! It was cool to see that they still are teaching a little girl named Paavani Spanish as well!

UPLIFTING MESSAGE
Sister Seitz talked about Practicing and shared this sweet video at Zone Conference. No matter what you practice, you will get good at it. If you practice being worried then you will become really good at it. If you practice being confident then you will gain confidence. Practice being happy and you will find joy in all that you do.

That's it for this week. Sorry my email is long. Until next time!

-for those of you who remember the cat that lives in the library from my exchanges a long long time ago, I got to see her again! Update: she still likes my bag(:

May 30, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 44 es un mundo pequeño

Hi everyone,
I hope y'all had a good week! This was a pretty long one here. We had interviews and then our Mission Leadership Meeting at the beginning of the week!

Exchanges
I stayed in Farmersville for both of our exchanges. They were SO fun!! I first had Hermana Seamons here and she is so sweet!! We had some really good street contacting opportunities and we focused a lot on following our promptings. Then I had Hermana Milla with me in Farmersville. She is from Guatemala and we had a really good lesson with a less active family and a recent convert. We definitely could feel the spirit!

The Robisons
We met with the Robison family this week. They are members of the church but they get super busy with work so we met with them during the week. We shared a beautiful video about being a good Samaritan and following Christ's example. We also were able to bond with them and talk about their farm which was really fun!

Sister Stotts
I met a sister from the Princeton ward back when I was in Plano because she gave us a ride from exchanges. She talked about how She served a mission in Chicago in 2017 and that Monday I asked my sister about it because she served in Chicago and she apparently would go to their apartment every week to eat with them and make these dolls haha. I told her I would mention it to sister stotts if I ever saw her again.... here I am BACK in Farmersville (as my area now) and I got to see her again and talk about all the memories she had with my sister. It was really sweet(:

Mario
We met with Mario and Graciela this week. We testified of the word of wisdom and talked about how Jesus Christ is going to be there for us every step of the way as we progress in this life. It was a really good discussion and we could definitely feel the spirit as Mario acknowledged the protection and love coming from the word of wisdom.

Spiritual Thought
In our meeting we read 2 Nephi 31. In verse 20 it says "press forward with a steadfastness in Christ." Reading the foot note to the word steadfastness, it says: Commitment, Dedication, Perseverance, Steadfastness, Walking with God. I know that He will never leave our side. As we strive to follow Christ, God will be there to support and guide us, we just need to be committed to the gospel.

That's everything for this week. Love y'all! Have a good week.

-Hermana Cutler
P.s. happy happy birthday to my sweet mom(:

May 23, 2022 Farmersville, Texas Week 43 Sweet Potato Noodles

Buenoooooo

This week was actually very long! I'm over here in Farmersville👩‍🌾 with Hna Murphy. We didn't have a lot of lessons this week but there were lots of service opportunities. We visited Maria and shared a scripture with her and are going back this week. We also met with Josh and talked about the Power of the Book of Mormon.

TRANSFERS
I got to see some of my mission friends(: SO FUN. I'll attach a picture but I am so so so grateful for all of the people that I have met here. I don't know how to express that enough. They are inspiring disciples of Jesus Christ and I have no doubt in my mind that we will all stay in touch and continue to influence one another after the mission!

SERVICE
There were lots of fun service opportunities. We went to a kids library and read books to them and even worked on a craft. We also did the little parachute thing and I even got to run under it haha. We went to a nursing home and painted nails for some older ladies and it was actually super fun!! I loved it. On Saturday we pulled some weeds for a young couple in our ward and they played music in the background and I got to hear some Olivia Rodrigo songs. Tender mercies.

TALK IN CHURCH
Friday night we got a text asking if I would speak for 7 mins. When I said yes they responded "Perfect, it will be 12mins on this topic..." Saturday night we got a text "Can Hermana Cutler speak for 15mins? Our adult speaker canceled." That was lovely😅 moral of the story I gave a talk in church. It was actually a really nice way to see the Ward all together. I spoke on the talk given from President Russell M. Nelson, "The Power of Spiritual Momentum." I focused on the point
"Learn About God and How He Works." I honestly think this talk was my favorite one I've given. I prayed a lot before hand which helped and asked questions for everyone to reflect on. I enjoyed doing it!

ENGLISH CLASS
We had 4 people in class and it was awesome!! The funny part was when I welcomed them to class and introduced myself in spanish and apparently 3 of them speak Portugese haha. They kind of understood! They also brought this corn bread they made for all of us! Ana even shared her thoughts after class about God and how He works.

It was a good week! Adjusting to the area and to my new companion. Also fun fact when you actually tell the members you are allergic to gluten and dairy they go above and beyond to make sure you can eat what they make. It also keeps you from being sick 24/7😃 one member made Korean food and they were noodles made out of sweet potatoes... for those who have been here awhile... I hate *strongly dislike* sweet potatoes but they were super good!!! Fun story: we were about to leave a member meal and the dad goes "hey kids, maybe we can have our snowball fight with the missionaries..." and they all ran to grab the big cotton balls and yes, we had a snowball fight for a solid 10mins. It was awesome😅 también, my first exchange is on Wednesday and I'm probably staying, so please pray for us.

Anyhoo I love y'all SO much!! Have a safe & blessed week!

Love,
Hermana Cutler
